Message, audience & goal

Before communicating anything, you need to think about your message, audience and goal.  The following questions help us create a design for you that has an impact.

Tell us about your project or research outcomes!

Write down what your design is about, what you have discovered and why you think it’s important to communicate to your audience.

What is the main message you want to convey?

What is the one sentence that you want to communicate? What is the result of your research that you think is important for people to know about or act on? 

What is your goal with this design?

Do you want to make people aware? Do you want to change behavior or policy? Do you want to make the world a better place?

Who is your target audience?

Be specific about your audience (and keep in mind that the general public does not exist). What is their education level, job, and world view? Are there any preconceptions they have that you need to address in your message?

For example: other scientists in my field, funding bodies, decision makers, politicians, experts or vulnerable people.
